Finding errors at depmod and make them dissapear
I talked to some of you at Ginos Bar in düsseldorf, that i wanted to go through all the singles (and later the albums) allready excisting at depmod,
to find more variations, matrixes, defining the actuall first releases in differenc countries, and add releases not already there, presssheets etc.
The idea was to start with Dreaming of me, and after a week or two or so, we continue with New Life, and so on.
For example someone (i don't remeber who) told me that the UK first release of Dfreaming of me, had orange, and not purple shirt on the girl. And i'm
sure the Master And servant UK 12" is not the first release showing.
I guess this is the details we love for.
I guess the first thread would be called "Mute013 - Dreaming Of Me"
Please post your comments, and maybe the order of thing we should find out about every record! And if you all think this is a good idea, we start with
dreaming of me on Monday 30 january.

thank you alex! that's a really good idea. 
for finding more details and variations, deleting errors and add things, information will be better and more exact. that will bring even more fun and
motivation into collecting.
I will try to involve myself, as far as i can. but in februar and early march my internet-connection will be down, because of moving. but anyway, it
will be a thing to grow time after time, i think. and i'm looking forward on this. i like our discography to to grow and to getting better!
And, i think, the forum is the right place to discuss everything about that!

Alex,
that was me!
Yes, it's true a friend of mine (actually the guy who made me buying my very first Depeche record in 1982) has that one.
In addition the orange shirt is also printed in the original innersleeve of THE SINGLES 81->85.
I'm happy you posted this idea here again - I know we talked a lot about this but somehow I'd forgotten - was it the beer at GINO's?

I didn't forget your idea Alex
But i have been thinking that there might should be an xtra forum, like "Collectors Forum", "Sell & Buy", "Off topic" and so on, just called
releases or something.
Else i think the threads will drown in all the other stuff.
...and like you suggested, there should be a small period between each new release, to be investigated.

I think it would be better to keep this kind of threads in the "collectors forum" but mention the link on each page of the resp. single. --> while
browsing through the different releases of one single you can find the link to its thread on the top/bottom of the page!!

Yes agree.
I also think it would be a good idea, if it's possible to let the releases stay in cronical order. Easier to overlook and find.
What i mean is, if were discussing e.g. 'Home', and then someone writes some new inofo on 'Shake The Disease', this thread won't jump to the top.
I know ppl have to scroll to find the latest post.
What do you think?

First sugestion was to start off with Dreaming of Me tomorrow monday, lets wait another week (6 february) for that while trying to duscuss this
further and so we do it the best way and all people can have their say!

I like the idea. They are many infos, that we post here anywhere, but they are not collected at one place (thread). I think Lars got (get) many info
via email too. So for him would be probably better to manage it and would clear his email box out too.
Starting first with singles and then with albums sounds good for me too!

With respect that both Lars and Vlad are ocupied with other things then depmod right now, i guess we could start this "small" project anyway and could
probaby move threads and change subject name in the future if needed.
another question: should we add the information about fake releases/bootlegs? sertainly not live-bootlegs vinyl/cd or remixalbums cd/vinyl, but there
are some releases that could fool people.
To take this thread to the spotlights again (if someone have missed it) please submit your thoughts and I will start the topic "Project: Dreaming Of
Me" this weekend.
Things we should check
* Compare your matrixes, barcodes, lables, catalogue no, packing, ect, with the ones already excisting on depmod, we should add the releasedates if we
have them (uk & us is easy, the other countries are harder i guess)
* submit more picures if possible
*define more differences between the first and later pressings, and define what actually is the first pressings
* if an release was released without a proper coversleeve, that info should be inserted to that release (i know i have often wonderd with some
auctions on ebay, if there was no official cover etc on certain promo releases...)
* and probably 10 more things that i'm missing here

do you mean something like this Alex? I would to open list of bootlegs (no live) on my site. Because I think we should have here clean discography
(idea 1) or we add the pics and infos of bootlegs here too (idea 2). But I think this would confuse many ppl. Bad idea
For me should be depmod.com very clean from bootlegs as I added. (depmod.com is Lars's site and he should tell us what he wish)

I also think we should include official items only.
I can speak only for myself - I'm not interested anymore in all the bootleg stuff (I want to/will sell most of this part of my collection soon).

Tom, you missunderstand me, I'm not interested in bootlegs either.
i was wondering if the fake ones could help collecters NOT to buy them. But you are correct, if this would have been of interest, Lars would allready
have them here (wern't they one time long ago?). And yes, it would confuse people Robert.
my first thought was something like at the bottom of this page (hmmm seems to have been deleted, but the header is still there) http://www.depmod.com/singles/i_feel_loved.htm#fake and the showing of the bootleg one here: http://www.depmod.com/singles/its_no_good.htm#B3622 or for example, the spanish 7" promo boot with photographic/ISWIWD.
But you both are correct; Official only sounds like an excelent ide!

I agree with you. Depmod's motto should definitely remain : "Official only". but I also think we should save some references as being "dubious" or
confusing items, I mean items that are semi official or that can't be considered as proper bootlegs, or even items that new collectors could easily
take for official ones whereas they are not.
